Malaysia made up for its first-day loss in the Pepsi ICC World Cricket League Division 6 (WCL Div. 6) by securing a nine-wicket victory over Norway in Singapore today.
The game, which was originally scheduled for yesterday but was played today after day two wash washed out, saw Malaysia ease its way past a Norway side that was all out for 188.
Malaysia's Suresh Navaratnam took bowling figures of 3-31, while Norway's top scorer was Adeel Ibrar with 66.
When Malaysia came in to bat it took just 31.1 overs to reach the target at the Singapore Cricket Club with Rakesh Madhaven amassing the majority of the runs for the side with an impressive 95 that included six fours and one six – thus earning him man of the match.
Afterwards, Malaysia captain Suhan Alagaratanam was delighted with his side's performance.
'I'm really happy with the way my team came through today and the boys really played well,' he said.
'I think we just played more freely today and enjoyed ourselves out in the field. We showed everyone that we can bounce back from defeat by winning by nine wickets and I hope we carry this momentum through to the next matches.'
Malaysia will face Botswana tomorrow, a game Alagaratnam is now looking forward to.
'We've got good confidence after today's win and I'm sure we're going to put pressure on Botswana who have lost two matches in a row now,' he said.
'We're going to come hard at them. There'll be no rocket science, no special plans – we just want to play our game and play to our strengths.'
