A frustrated Northern Knights Opening Batsman Nigel Jones who top scored with 61, but was bitterly disappointed to lose a game in which his side dominated for long periods.
Chasing 144 the Knights Were 72 for 0 after 10.
However they contrived to lost the game by 5 runs. There are many positives they can take from the game, but the failure to get over the line hurt.
Barry Chambers: Nigel well batted, but amazingly after the start the Northern Knights got, you've lost that game?
Nigel Jones: Yeah it is disappointing and frustrating. Obviously firstly credit to Leinster for hanging in there and getting the win.
I think for us we just, you know we lost eight wickets for about fifty runs. And after being, I think it was seventy without loss possibly after ten. We'd done all the hard work and got the foundations in.
And then we just lost wicket, and it cost us at crucial times. And that was probably more our downfall than really the good work really.
So I think we probably need to look ourselves on that one. And it feels like a real missed opportunity. So back to the drawing board.
Barry Chambers: Yes you probably dominated that game for maybe 75%-80% of it, and you've ended up losing. That must be hard to take.
Nigel Jones: Yeah I think sometimes that is sport. But equally there's a lot of learning that we can take. I think we can take the confidence that, I think we probably feel in the dressing room that we were better out there, as you allude to with that 75% of the game. And yet haven't got the win, haven't got the result. So we need to be better.
Barry Chambers: Of course you have a chance to bounce back, you play the Warriors on Monday.
Nigel Jones: Yes I think we're playing on the same wicket as well. So we need to take that into consideration. It was quite low and if you bowled straight you had to hit it straight basically, you weren't really able to manipulate sideways. So I think we need to be smart and come out and hit the Warriors hard.
