Leinster Lightning Captain John Mooney was delighted his side finally captured all three Inter Provincial Titles in one season.

The Skipper's vital hundred on day one enabled the Lightning to control the match from there on in.

Having collected his side's third trophy for the season the Skipper also called for more investment to be made into the Interprovincial Competitions.

He called for the grounds hosting the Inter Pro's to be helped, from the powers that be, with infrastructure to host the matches to a First Class standard.

Mooney also said it would be great if all Teams were enabled to field their best eleven players for all games. Whatever needs to be done to allow this to happen should also be done.

Odran Flynn: Well John, at the third time of asking you've finally got the clean sweep. You must be very happy?

John Mooney: Delighted yeah, because it's not easy to do all three. And it's been our goal since the first year. So to do it this year, third year, happy, and third year lucky and the three trophies.

Odran Flynn: And your own performance, a very very fine century on day one?

John Mooney: Yeah I was happy with that. The circumstances of the game made me ever more happier with it, you know, because it brought us from being in a difficult enough position to completely dominating the game.

Odran Flynn: After three years of the Inter Pros, how do you feel they are now, how they've developed, do you think they need changes?

John Mooney: Obviously there's changes that could be made. I think the biggest thing is to get the best players to play all the games. Unfortunately that's not happening at the minute. And that's a financial issue.

I don't think we need to look any further, in my opinion, on how best do we get the best players to play, all the time. And if that means the players need a few more quid, well then that's what has to be done.

I certainly think investment is needed in the facilities. Because too often em the grounds aren't in good enough condition. And we're sitting while there's no rain, waiting for a ground to dry, that if it had proper facilities, I think we wouldn't be doing that.

Odran Flynn: Anywhere in particular you're talking about?

John Mooney: No well it's not the grounds fault. I think that there's a structure there that could have the money to maybe help out with that. There's TAPP Funding, I don't know the ins and outs of it. But certainly Clubs that are hosting Inter Pro Games, should have Blotters, Covers to cover the whole square. And then help for the Groundsman on that particular ground.

Odran Flynn: Okay, because there's been talk about the Inter Pros, the three day matches, being made First Class Fixtures. You presumably wouldn't believe till those facilities are put in place, there's any chance of them becoming First Class?

John Mooney: No, there's way too many games that are played on poor wickets. And I think that sometimes bowlers are getting away with bowling in not great areas. But the fact that the facilities, the wicket, the outfields, things like that aren't up to scratch, gives the Bowlers chances.

It's very difficult to score runs in these Inter Pro Series. It has been since day one. And a lot of that is down to the facilities.

Odran Flynn: Okay. Do you think there's need for a 4th team in it or is 3 enough, given the current situation regards pitches and wickets etc.?

John Mooney: I think 3 is enough at the minute. I know there's talk of bringing a fourth team into the Twenty20 which I'd have no problem with. I certainly don't want to see my Leinster Squad tapped into. I think we've got great competition. It makes this team better, the fact that there's a lot of competition for places. And you know you have to perform to get into the Leinster side. You don't just get into it with just bits and pieces performances.

Odran Flynn: That's grand. Listen well done John, congratulations and all the best for Zimbabwe.

John Mooney: Thanks, cheers.
