Former Irish international Conor Armstrong has been named the new selector of Leinster Lightning.

The 34 year-old played 27 times for the Irish between 2001 and 2005, and was in the squad which won the InterContinental Cup for the first time a decade ago.

Armstrong has been a regular fixture with North County where the hard hitting left-hander has won a host of trophies.

He enjoyed most success in the Irish Senior Cup - he's the competition's leading run scorer - as the Balrothery side won the trophy five times.

Leinster Lightning have dominated the inter-pro series since its latest incarnation three years ago - they've won 7 of the 9 competitions, doing a clean sweep in 2015.
