Meanwhile in Dublin, defending champions Leinster Lightning started their campaign with an 80-run victory over Munster Reds.
Leinster opener Gareth Delany hit 77 from 62 balls (6 fours, 4 sixes) to get his side up to 160 for 6 on a difficult track.
Hills’ top-order batsman Sean Terry clubbed three sixes in a fluent unbeaten 33, being particularly severe on his former team mate Max Sorensen, who conceded 44 from his four overs.
There was better fortune for Yaqoob Ali who took 4 for 29 in an excellent spell, which included the wicket of this week’s Test centurion Kevin O’Brien for just 3.
Tyrone Kane (1-9) struck in his first over dismissing Jack Tector and from then on Munster were never able to get any rhythm into their innings.
Lightning skipper George Dockrell picked up three wickets and there were two apiece for Joe Carroll (2-10), Simi Singh (2-18) and Peter Chase (2-23) as Munster were dismissed for 80.
Speaking to CricketEurope afterwards Dockrell said: "It's great to start the competition with a win. Gareth Delaney batted very well throughout the whole innings on what was a very tough pitch.
"Gareth paced his innings superbly, and with Sean Terry hitting a few sixes I thought we did well to get to 160, which we thought was a competitive score.
"All our bowlers hit good lengths and with TK (Tyrone Kane) getting a wicket in the first over, that set us up nicely. We all did our jobs and the bonus point win is a great start to the campaign."
The competition continues next Friday when the Knights host Lightning at Shaw’s Bridge, while the Warriors take on Munster at Eglinton.
At Sydney Parade, Leinster Lightning beat Munster Reds by 80 runs
Lightning 160-6 (20 overs; G Delany 77, S Terry 33*; Y Ali 4-29)
Reds 80 all out (15.4 overs; J Grassi 21; G Dockrell 3-15, J Carroll 2-10, S Singh 2-18, P Chase 2-23)
