THE Cricket Ireland Cricket Committee are considering making the inter-provincial Championship four-day matches next season, after North West Warriors and Leinster Lightning drew their second game of the season at Bready on Friday.
As in the first game between the teams at Pembroke last month, it was unaffected by rain but time ran out with a potentially exciting finish if there had been an extra day, as per the county championship in England.
The cost of putting the visitors up for an extra night would appear the main stumbling block but it seems a small price to pay to ensure a positive result when two strong batting line-ups are involved.
Warriors outscored Lightning in both games, scoring 509-9 dec in the first innings in Dublin and 460-9 in their second innings at Bready, with Ireland Test captain William Porterfield hitting a career best 207.
