An unbeaten 94 from Leinster Lightning captain George Dockrell helped his team to a hard fought three wicket win against the Northern Knights at Stormont.
Dockrell with support from John Anderson rescued their side with a superb 5th wicket stand of 140 from 165 balls after they had slipped to 69 for 4 responding to a Knights' total of 235 for 9.
The Leinster man has been in prolific form with the bat, and once again showed his controlled aggression with a series of trademark drives and also pulled and swept to great effect in the run chase.
He struck 8 fours and cleared the ropes twice in his 100-ball innings, while Merrion's Anderson found the boundary 7 times in his 75 from 111 deliveries.
Once the partnership was broken with Andre Malan - a late call up to the squad - bowling Anderson, there was a Lightning wobble as Lorcan Tucker and Tyrone Kane both went without scoring.
However, Dockrell proved to be the coolest man in the heat, guiding his team over the line with nine balls remaining.
Earlier, Harry Tector's undefeated 68 had given the Knights' bowlers something reasonable to defend on an excellent track.
The teenager hit 5 fours and a six in his 78-ball stay, adding a valuable 45 for the last wicket with Gary Kidd (17*).
James McCollum (42), Marc Ellison (31) and Adam Dennison (22) had given the Knights a solid start before they were pegged back by wickets for Max Sorensen and Simi Singh who both took 3 for 49.
Man of the Match Dockrell chipped in with 2 for 40 in an excellent all-round display, as he claimed the vital wicket of James Shannon for just three.
The interprovincial bandwagon rolls on today (MON) to Comber, where the Knights take on NW Warriors in a three-day contest.
