A five wicket haul by Tyrone Kane and a T20 record interpro stand of 132 between Andrew Balbirnie and Simi Singh has taken Leinster Lighting to the verge of yet another title.
Irish internationals Simi Singh and Andrew Balbirnie both scored half centuries to propel Lightning to 207 for 5 - the 3rd highest team total in the competition history.
The pair added a record 132 in just 74 balls overhauling the 128 between Singh and Max Sorensen against Munster last year at Merrion.
Balbirnie top scored with 72 from 48 balls (8 fours, 2 sixes), while Singh was even quicker, hitting 5 fours and 4 sixes in his 69 from only 36 balls.
Lightning skipper George Dockrell ensured the rate didn't drop after both went, striking 32 from 17 balls to crown a positive batting display.
Tyrone Kane dismissed Nigel Jones second ball, and the Merrion man went on to claim four more scalps to claim his second five wicket haul in the format - he and Craig Young (twice) the only bowlers to achieve the milestone.
Knights skipper Shane Getkate (45) and Harry Tector (36) had given their side hope with an energetic 4th wicket stand, but Dockrell (2-33) struck twice in an over to stall their momentum, and they finished on 180 for 9.
The morning game produced a huge shock as Munster claimed their first List-A win since their re-entry into the competition.
The Warriors was always playing catch-up after early wickets for David Delany and Jeremy Benton left them reeling at 16 for 4.
Aaron Gillespie celebrated his elevation into the Ireland A ranks with a superb unbeaten 80 from 55 balls (9 fours, 2 sixes), adding 97 with skipper Andy McBrine, who cleared the ropes three times in his 37 from 25 balls.
Their recovery saw the Warriors post a respectable 162 for 7.
However, it was never enough after a third wicket stand of 92 between Rush opener Stephen Doheny hit 64 from just 43 balls (7 fours, 1 six), and Robert Forrest (36).
Max Sorensen (19*) applied the coup de grace as Munster got over the line with three overs to spare.
Lightning are now 10 points clear of the Warriors with two games left and have one hand on the trophy.
The teams meet in the afternoon game on Saturday (4pm) with the Knights facing Munster Reds in the morning match (11am).
The games are live streamed if you are unable to attend - details on the Cricket Leinster website and Twitter feed.
