THE final inter-provincial Championship game of the season between Leinster Lightning and Northern Knights has been moved from Malahide to Sydney Parade.
Cricket Leinster emailed Malahide a week ago informing them they had chosen to move the game because of "logistical issues to do with live-stream setup costs, advertising hoardings and catering."
While it is true that Malahide groundstaff and square would have been under pressure, the above were the primary reasons for the late change of venue, with Malahide originally taking the fixture as a favour to the governing body.
North West Warriors have already won the title so both teams could rest some of their star players for the three-day game which starts on Tuesday at 10.30am.
The Warriors still have a 50-over Cup game to play, and that goes ahead as scheduled at Rathmines against Lightning on Sunday week, September 9.
A bonus point victory for the North West side will end Lightning’s reign as holders in this competition as well.
