An unbeaten 44 from YMCA’s Reuben Wilson steered Leinster Under 15s to a four-wicket win against hosts NCU at Belmont.

Chasing 162, Leinster had slipped to 95 for 5 despite 43 from Bruce Whaley, with CSNI spinner James West taking three wickets.

But Wilson stayed resolute, getting the runs needed in conjunction with Robert O’Brien (11) and Febin Manoj (12*).

Earlier, NCU had been in trouble at 46 for 5, but the lower order rallied, with Mark Hanna and Conor McVicker making 27 apiece as they finished on 162.

Manoj completed a fine all-round day with three wickets, while there were two apiece for skipper Ollie Riley, Seb Dijkstra, and Ethan Marshall – who showed the ups and downs of cricket. He had made a century yesterday, but failed to score today.

Leinster will win the 50-overs section of the competition tomorrow if they beat Munster, while northern bragging rights will be at stake in the match between the NCU and NW.
