Ireland Under 17 girls won the first match of their double-header against Netherlands Under 18’s at Utrecht.

Star of the show was Clontarf’s Freya Sargent who took four wickets for just three runs as the hosts were dismissed for just 77.

There were two wickets apiece for Kia McCartney and Aoife Fisher, plus one for Rush bowler Ellie McGee on her 16th birthday.

The Irish had little trouble chasing down their modest target with Alice Walsh making 20, while Abbi Harrison and Kia McCartney both scored 15 as they won by 8 wickets in the 15th over.

The sides will play five games in total this week, with the second game this afternoon.
