Ireland Under 19 girls lost the opening match of their tri-series, going down by 33 runs to Middlesex Schools at Oak Hill.
The Londoners racked up 139 for 6 in their 20 overs, with Freya Sargent the best of the Irish teenagers.
In reply Ireland managed 106 for 9, with Ellie McGee of Rush top-scoring with 29, and skipper Georgina Dempsey making 18.
Ireland were back in action in the afternoon game when they made it one win apiece in the tri-series after beating Ireland U13 cubs by four wickets.
Chasing 121, skipper Georgina Dempsey hit 5 fours and a six in her 37 from 27 balls, and despite a wobble at 72 for 5, they clinched the win thanks to Merrion's Annabel Squires, who also made 37 from 27 balls.
Earlier Bready's Swarnim Jha (48*) and Railway's Peter Le Roux (23*) had shared an unbroken stand of 68 to rescue them from a precarious 53 for 4, to finish on 121 for 4 - it wasn't enough.
The mini tournament continues over the next two days.
