CIYMS have made their second signing of the week with Jake Egan joining the club from Carrickfergus.

The 21-year-old Australian is an Irish passport holder who spent two seasons at Middle Road, playing 34 matches in total, having missed half of the current campaign through injury.

In 2023 he scored 511 runs at 24.33 (1 hundred, 3 fifties), while taking 11 wickets, while this year he made 379 runs at 31.58 (3 fifties) and claimed four wickets.

Egan rather bizarrely was the Cricket Ireland nominee for the Overseas Programme Exchange in his native Australia last year..sending coals to Newcastle..

There's no doubt his talent though and in eight matches with the Knights has two fifties at Interprovincial Level.

He has also played for the Cricket Ireland Academy and as he matures will surely score more heavily and consistently.

CIYMS have certainly got a quality performer and the Belmont club haven't finished yet, with at least one more signing to come in the days ahead.
