Post Match Reaction to an Opening Day Victory for Leinster Lightning Over Northern Knights in the Opening RSA Interprovincial Match at The Hills Cricket Club

Leinster Lightning Captain Kevin O'Brien Talks After His Superb Match Winning Century

Barry Chambers: Great start to the Series for you, but you certainly made it difficult for yourself?

Kevin O'Brien (Leinster Lightning Captain): Yeah it's great to get two points. I think we had a little bit of a wobble in the middle. But you know `Finto' (Fintan McAllister) were there at the end, and it was a good victory.

Barry Chambers: It seemed a pretty competitive game, were you surprised by just how hard the Northern Knights came at you?

Kevin O'Brien: No not really, you know the Ulster Team last year, the Northern Team last year came hard in both games. So we kind of knew what to expect, and you know you look at their side, they've got six or seven internationals, you know they've got a lot of experience in there as well. So they were never going to give up. You know they got a competitive total on the board, and it went down to the wire.

Barry Chambers:   You seem to be pretty fit and striking the ball well, a lot of confidence out there?

Kevin O'Brien: Yeah I suppose, I mean I suppose I got a couple away early on, and it kind of settled me down a bit, and myself and `Cusey' (Alex Cusack) were going well, and as I said we had a hiccup. But I just knew if I was there at the end, we would be pretty close to winning the game, if not winning it. So I just needed to stay there and is suppose `Finto' gave me some good support.

Barry Chambers: And always pleasing to get a hundred?

Kevin O'Brien: Of course, you know, I suppose the most important thing is to win. But then you look at it, and if you can contribute hugely to the win, and be there at the end, and hit the winning runs, it just makes it even more sweeter.
