Kevin O'Brien Pleased With Team's Performance on Day 1

The Railway Union man still insists that there's work to be done and his team can improve, especially in the field.

Barry Chambers: Kevin first day, it couldn't have gone much better for you, I suppose?

Kevin O'Brien (Captain, Leinster Lightning): Yeah great, I think we're in a great position at the end of day one, so we've just got to recover tonight and come back tomorrow morning with a clear game plan of pushing ahead in this match.

Barry Chambers:  Maybe a word about Bill Coughlan first time in the squad, and a great innings there?

Kevin O'Brien: Yeah great, you know, he's performed well the last two or three seasons with Clontarf. He's been a consistent run scorer in the Leinster Division 1 and he's been rewarded with his form. So he's got a big innings now tomorrow.

We spoke about one of the top four getting in and going on and getting a big hundred. So he can, he's in a great position, 71 not out overnight and he's just got to come back in the morning, fresh and wanting to score 150, 160.

Barry Chambers: What about with the ball, a few wickets yourself, but Eddie Richardson knocked over two of the top order?

Kevin O'Brien: Yeah you know Eddie has been bowling very well this year for North County, and he's performed very well with the bat as well. So again he bowled brilliantly last Monday in The Hills, and again followed it up today with two early wickets, and had good line and length and control. So I think the bowlers did a good job today for us. And I think just in the field we probably lacked 15% or 20%.
