Connell Spearheads Warriors Day 2 Fightback With The Ball
North West Warriors Bowler Peter Connell was happy with his contribution as his team hit back early on Day 2. He took four wickets.
Barry Chambers: Peter a fine personal performance from yourself, but the Warriors are struggling at the end of the second day?
Peter Connell (North West Warriors): Yeah, well unfortunately after their first spell yesterday we let them get away with the new ball, and it really put us in a spot of bother. So it was good to get back in the game, and half give us a chance of either saving it or if we can post a big total, maybe putting some pressure on them. But it was a bit too little too late unfortunately I think.
Barry Chambers: Your second new ball spell, what was the difference to your first one, I mean four for eight in nine overs was fantastic bowling.
Peter Connell: Well Bobby came in and said look you just need to calm it down a bit, you know, you're maybe trying a bit too hard. Like I wasn't overly disappointed with the areas I was bowling in the first innings, you know there was an unfortunate dropped catch in the slips, early doors, and you know sometimes that can, at the top of the innings they're important.
We had a few inside edges here and there, but I mean I think the openers batted well as well, you know they stuck at their guns and I don't think that the second new ball did any more, I think it did less if anything. But you've just got to concentrate on doing, you know, bowl in good areas and trying to put pressure on them, and I got a little bit of luck today, so happy with that.
Barry Chambers: Yeah and North West Warriors have just lost two wickets there, just before the end, Max Sorensen bowling well?
Peter Connell: Well yeah, I mean there's a little bit of help in the pitch for all the bowlers, but you know it's a little bit sluggish, so very disappointed from a Warriors point of view to lose two there, especially Kamran (Sajjid) he's down to score big runs and he's missed out in both innings. But tomorrow is another day, and if we can bat through that first hour, then you know, who knows what can happen. We saw today that we came out with the right attitude, and put a good fifty, sixty overs together, so that's what we need to do. It's not good enough to play well for an hour.
