Riddles Hails Never Say Die Attitude as Warriors Battle to Exciting Draw
Following a hugely entertaining and exciting draw in the opening match of the RSA Interprovincial Series, Andrew Riddles pays tribute to the never say die attitude of the Warriors.
Barry Chambers: Andrew, pretty amazing game of cricket, but Johnny Thompson and Peter Connell held their nerve there at the end?
Andrew Riddles (North West Warriors): You're right there Barry, it was just an exciting finish. Two guys bowled really well. It turnout like a T20 match there at the end, it was very very exciting. Some excellent catches in the field, and just what North West Cricket is all about, just keeping together and battling on.
Barry Chambers: Yes you showed great team spirit. I mean with Kevin O'Brien and their batting line up, twenty six in four overs, did you really think you could do it?
Andrew Riddles: We backed ourselves from the start. The wicket was actually doing a bit at the very end, seaming about, and we just backed ourselves when we went out. The two opening bowlers proved it, we saved the match.
Barry Chambers: And batting was always difficult earlier in the day, and yourself and David Rankin, Rickey Lee Dougherty, everybody played their part digging in?
Andrew Riddles: It was just a matter of not going down and getting into the game. Everybody contributed to the match, and well done North West.
Barry Chambers:It must feel like a victory, I mean you were coming off celebrating and cheering there, I mean it's an amazing turnaround in the game.
Andrew Riddles: Yeah after the first session just, everybody's heads went down, but we actually picked ourselves up again and got going, so it was just a great finish and a great game of cricket.
