Northern Knights have it all to do following a torrid first day against Leinster Lightning.

Northern Knights Head Coach Eugene Moleon said his team were inconsistent in executing their plans on a tough Day 1 against Leinster Lightning at College Park. He also stressed that there is plenty of time left in the game for his time to improve and get something of of the fixture.

Barry Chambers:   Eugene a pretty difficult day for the Northern Knights?

Eugene Moleon:   Yeah it was, like I think it was always going to be tough playing them, but look, it's Day 1 and it was a tough day. The disappointing thing from my side of it, I think we were very inconsistent with our bowling, and our fielding. Two good balls an over is not good enough at this level, and especially against the calibre of players we were up against, playing against Leinster. So from that point of view the inconsistency, that's a real disappointment today.

Barry Chambers:   You had mentioned, I mean they have serious depth to their batting, it's not like club batting, they bat right way down to eleven?

Eugene Moleon:   Yeah they do bat long, but I mean, we just concentrate on what we are doing, and we didn't do that well enough. We didn't bowl in partnerships, and certainly two or three good balls an over is not good enough. And that's the most disappointing thing. Look there's still a long way to go, and I'm not saying that the game is done, but we've got a lot of batting still to come, and we're going to keep positive as well.

Barry Chambers:   Yeah the beauty of three day cricket is you've good batting yourselves, and you can fight back, there is time.

Eugene Moleon:   Yeah, there is time, there is a lot of time left in the game, and we're just got to take it session by session. I think if we keep our goals nice and small it would be ideal. We're going to go back, we've learned quite a lot from today, and take that into tomorrow.
