LEINSTER Lightning took control on day one of the RSA interpro in Trinity yesterday.

The powerful Lightning batting order piled on 364 runs before their bowlers took over.

And at the close the Northern knights were struggling on 20-2 with star batsmen James Shannon and Andrew White out to a hostile spell by Eddie Richardson.

A visa interview ahead of Ireland's visit to Holland next week meant John Anderson was a late arrival.

But it meant he missed the early seam movement and when he came in at 26-2 he battled his way to 86.

His partners had the freedom to play their shots and Kevin O'Brien and Stuart Poynter made attractive 50s.

Four of the Lightning top five missed out, but with a strong tail -- Richardson and Max Sorensen added 60 for the tenth wicket off seven overs -- full bonus points were secured.
