Northern Knights Lack of Consistency with Bat and Ball Disappoints Andrew White

Northern Knights Andrew White was disappointed with the Knights performance against a strong Leinster Lightning side. He hopes the Knights can learn from their mistakes and get back to the form that they showed in their first match against the Warriors.

Barry Chambers: Andrew pretty disappointing all round performance. Game over in just over two days?

Andrew White: Very disappointing, especially you know having done so well to get the win up at Eglinton. You know I guess there's a lot to be learned. I suppose from an overall picture, this is why we have the Interprovincial setup now, that there is that stepping stone for guys coming from Club Cricket. It's a big step up from Club Cricket, especially against a strong Leinster side, with so much experience in it.

But you know there are quite a few positives we can take from the game, such as Chris Dougherty's batting, which was outstanding in both innings. And at several points during the game, we performed in patches, but obviously it just wasn't for long enough spells. The consistency wasn't there with either bat or ball, and that's probably the most disappointing thing for us.

Barry Chambers: At 74-4 the Knights were in the game, but you could never really build the pressure?

Andrew White: I guess we really let Kevin get off to a quick start, and once you let him away at the start, then he gets into that free flowing form that we've watched for so many years now, and you know, along with Stuart Poynter, the two of them batted extremely well and took the game away from us. Because then it allowed their lower order to come in and play their shots. And 360, while 360 was a good score for the Lightning, if we had batted anywhere near our potential, we might have done enough to draw the game.

Barry Chambers: But you have a couple of home matches coming up, so all is not lost yet?

Andrew White: Definitely not, and as I say, it's a really young side we have in the NCU , and hopefully the guys learn from our mistakes and we can build for the future.
