A number of new faces will be in the North West Warriors squad for this Sunday's Interprovincial T20 blitz at Magheramason after several players carrying niggles were given time to recover ahead of the 3-day games up next.
Head Coach Bobby Rao was keen to point out that the players involved remain very much part of his plans for this series and beyond, adding that it will also give the debutants a chance to stake their claim as well- "Iftikhar Hussain, Stuart Thompson, Andy Britton and Andrew Riddles have all been carrying strains of one kind or another so it is only fair to give them a break for these T20's.
David Barr has been exemplary since being called into the squad but the fact that he is training with the Ireland under-19's next week made it difficult for selectors to put him under too much pressure to play in these games as well.
Several other players have been doing well for their clubs recently so this is a good opportunity to get them in and have a look at them in this format. Hopefully the North West cricket public will see what we're trying to do and it would be nice for the team to have a big support at Bready on Sunday".
The Warriors have picked 13 players given that they will play two games back- to- back and there are three Fox Lodge men- Jason Milligan, Dean McCarter and Andrew McGinnis called into the panel. Gareth Burns is back in as well while a surprise inclusion is Craig Young- freed up by Sussex to play on Sunday. Eglinton spinner Ross Allen has also caught the selectors eye and makes up a bold and forward-thing squad.
