LEINSTER Lightning could clinch the second of the three RSA interpro trophies in Waringstown today.

The Northern Knights will provide the opposition in the Co. Down village (10.45am) and nothing short of a home win will keep the RSA IP50 tournament alive.

With Kevin O'Brien in the Caribbean with Trinidad Red Steel, John Mooney will lead the Lightning, who are also without Andrew and Stuart Poynter, Andrew Balbirnie, Alex Cusack and Fintan McAllister.

It means a chance for some exciting young stars, including Tyrone Kane and Peter Chase who were on the Ireland team that this week lost out on a place in the next U19 World Cup.

Leinster also announced yesterday that the first recipients of interprovincial contracts would be Bill Coghlan, Pat Collins and McAllister "for their superb efforts" for club and province.

Squad: John Mooney (capt, North County), Ben Ackland, John Anderson, Tyrone Kane (all Merrion), Peter Chase (Malahide), Pat Collins (Railway Union), Bill Coghlan (Clontarf), Barry McCarthy (Pembroke), Stephen Moreton (Leinster), Eddie Richardson (North County), Max Sorensen (The Hills), Albert Van der Merwe (YMCA)
