Leinster Lightning today wrapped the 3 Day Interprovincial Series with a comprehensive victory over the North West Warriors at Bready.

Having established a 100 plus lead the Lightning declared and proceeded to knock the Warriors over for 173. That left them 73 to chase down against the clock, which they did for the loss of 3 wickets. Skipper John Mooney was full of praise for his team, all who contributed to the emphatic win. The Leinster Lightning can make it a clean sweep of domestic silverware if they can beat the Northwest Warriors in their remaining 50 over game.

Barry Chambers:   John nice to get the win wrapped up in two days. It didn't look like it. The North West Warriors playing a bit better today?

John Mooney (Captain, Leinster Lightning):   Yeah I think it's obviously nice to get it over in two days. It's nice just to get the win, so however long it takes. And I think the North West Boys did apply themselves nicely with the bat there today. And credit has to go to them, you know, they stuck it out. Andy McBrine, you know, he's a gutsy cricketer, stuck it out there for a good while. You know Aggie and Johnny, they're going to do the same, fair play to them. And you know it was a tough one in the end to get over the line today, because we were worried about the weather tomorrow.

Barry Chambers:   And it's good as a Captain to have so many options in the bowling, the eight bowler used, John Anderson, getting three wickets.

John Mooney:   Yeah I asked the question on Saturday, is it a good thing or a bad thing to have so many bowling options? But today obviously it showed that it's a very good thing to have lots of bowling. And Tyrone Kane didn't even bowl today, and he has been a quality performer all year. He's a bit tired from his Under 19 exploits and whatever, so probably good that he got a day's rest. But it does show we've got a lot of strength in depth.

Barry Chambers:   Yeah and maybe a  word about Simi Singh and John Anderson, it was there partnership that obviously set up this win?

John Mooney:   Yeah the boys were brilliant. They've been great all year, you know, John Anderson has been brilliant for a number of years now. He's really shown his class. And Simi has been amazing in club cricket. A lot of Northern people may not know much about Simi, but he's been coming over and back to Ireland for a few years now, and he's really established himself as one of the top players down in Leinster, and fair play to him.

Barry Chambers:   And that's two trophies won, one to go, you'll be looking to make it a hat trick?

John Mooney:   Yeah, definitely, you know, that's been the goal from the start of the year. Unfortunately we couldn't get it done on Saturday, but we were beaten by the better team on the day, on Saturday. So we'll get another chance against the North West Boys, we won't take them for granted. But if we win that, hopefully we'll have the three in the bag.
