The Netherlands endured their second warm-up defeat, losing to Hong Kong by 27 runs as Haseeb Amjad claimed six wickets.
Having won the toss and elected to field, the Dutch again found early returns, Michael Swart removing Kinchit Shav with his second ball, and Timm van der Gugten trapping Jamie Atkinson LBW in the second over. Nizakat Khan and Mark Chapman pulled Hong Kong back to 30-2 before Khan fell to Logan van Beek for 16, and Chapman then combined with Munir Dar to add another 20 runs before being run out in the 14th over immediately after reaching his 50.
The Dutch continued to bowl with discipline, and Haseeb Amjad and Aizaz Khan's 20 runs for the 8th wicket was the only further partnership of significance as regular wickets prevented the scoring from accelerating. Van der Gugten and Ahsan Malik both picked up 3 wickets as Hong Kong were bowed out for 127 with one ball remaining.
The Dutch chase started inauspiciously, however, as Michael Swart fell to Tanwir Afzal in the first without scoring, and Wesley Barresi was bowled by Haseeb Amjad the following over with the score on just 14. Stephan Myburgh and Ben Cooper set about reclaiming the momentum for the Dutch, Myburgh especially looking in fine form as the pair took the Netherlands past 50 by the eighth over. Cooper was eventually removed by Nizakat Khan for 18, but Myburgh was seemingly undeterred, hitting back-to-back sixes as he and captain Peter Borren put on another 30 runs in quick time.
At 83-3 at the end of the 11th over the Dutch were looking in control, even with the loss of Myburgh, trapped LBW by Nizakat Khan for 52 in the 12th over, the odds were very much in the Netherlands' favour. Borren took his team to 95-5 with six overs remaining for the loss only of Eric Szwarczynski who was run out for 2.
The 15th over, bowled by Haseeb Amjad, was to upend the game entirely however as Amjad ripped away the middle order, removing Mudassar Bukhari, Borren and Michael Rippon in the space of five balls. Reduced from 96-5 to 97-8 the Dutch struggled on only as far as Amjad's next over, where he completed the job by dismissing van Beek and Seelaar in consecutive deliveries to finish with 6 wickets for 21 runs from his 3.5 overs - the Netherlands having lost their last five wickets for just four runs.
