The ICC has confirmed that the Event Technical Committee of the ICC World Twenty20 Bangladesh 2014 has approved Tom Cooper as a replacement player for Tim Gruijters in the Netherlands squad for the tournament, which starts in Bangladesh on Sunday 16 March.
Gruijters sustained a lower-back injury, which has restricted his movement, and therefore has been ruled out of the tournament.
Cooper, 27, has played eight T20Is in which he has scored 158 runs. His last T20I was against Kenya in Windhoek in April 2013.
The replacement of a player requires the approval of the Event Technical Committee before the replacement player can be officially added to the squad.
The Event Technical Committee of the ICC World Twenty20 Bangladesh 2014 consists of Geoff Allardice (ICC, chairman), Campbell Jamieson (IDI representative), Mahbubul Anam (BCB Director), Khaled Mahmud Sujan (BCB Director and former captain), Russel Arnold (independent nominee) and Mpumelelo Mbangwa (independent nominee).
The Netherlands will play its opening match against the United Arab Emirates (UAE) on 17 March at Sylhet International Cricket Stadium.
