Dejected Young Backing Batters to Dig Deep to Save Warriors on Final Day

North West Warriors Opening Bowler Craig Young turned in a brilliant shift of fast bowling today at Bready. 16 overs, 4 maidens, taking 5 for 37.

At one stage it looked as if the Warriors would be looking at a substantial first innings lead, but a dropped catch and a fantastic 10th wicket partnership gave the Lightning an unlikely 44 run lead.

Then followed the loss of 5 wickets for just 20 runs before stumps, leaving the Warriors deep in trouble.

Young is backing the remaining batsmen to dig deep and fight hard to make a game of it on the final day.

Barry Chambers: Craig fantastic personal performance from you, 5 wickets, you must be pleased with how the ball is coming out there?

Craig Young: Yeah, on a personal level definitely pleased. But it could have went better then, towards the end of of the day especially, what are 20 for 5, it's not ideal. The personal performance doesn't mean anything if we're going to get hammered. So a big effort tomorrow needed from the batters.

Barry Chambers: Were you disappointed when the ball was taken off you, I mean at 127 for 9 your tail was up, was that a bit of a turning point?

Craig Young: No the last over was the last of it, no matter what. It was just nice to get the 5th wicket . But it was, as I said it was the last of it, no matter what. The ground was very very heavy out there, my two calves were cramping up. My hamstrings were acting up as well.

Barry Chambers: And it turned around with that dropped catch, you could have had a lead of 49, but it turned out a deficit of 44.

Craig Young: That's just cricket for you. If you're not switched on 100% of the time, it will come back and bite you.

Barry Chambers: And 20 for 5 it's obviously a long way back, do you think you can save the game?

Craig Young: Never say never, I mean it's not the first time we've been up against it like this, so hopefully we can. Definitely back the boys in the changing room, if you still look in the changing room the talent that's still to come in. I mean the like of Lee is batting 10 for goodness sake, so I'd definitely back us to give a good effort and dig ourselves out of a hole tomorrow.
