The Cricket Scotland Women's awards night took place on Saturday 27th September at Stirling County Cricket Club.

Cricket Scotland's Women's Cricket Manager Kari Carswell hosted the evening and started with a roundup of the many highlights from the domestic game. Congratulations to Carlton Ladies who won the National League and Scottish Cup.

 

Ollie Rae, Kathryn Bryce and Kirstie Gordon gave a comprehensive report on the U17 programme. The U17 girls played 14 fixture in the 2014 season, winning 6 fixtures:

U17 bowler of the year – Kirstie Gordon

U17 batter of the year – Kirstie Gordon

U17 fielder of the year – Sarah Bryce

U17 Players Player of the year – Kirstie Gordon

 

Gordon Allan delivered a concise speech on the development programme, highlighting the importance of keeping girls involved in cricket once they come out of the U17 programme but also encouraging those who play for clubs and universities who are talented and have shown an interest in playing for Scotland.

 

Senior awards

Bowler of the year – Kathryn White/Kari Anderson – 20 wickets each

Batter of the year – Kari Anderson – 351 runs

Fielder of the year – Charlotte Bascombe – 6 catches, 3 stumpings, 2 run outs

Most Improved player – Elizabeth Priddle

Players Player of the year – Kari Anderson

 

Kari Carswell looked back on the night "it was great to see so many people turning up to celebrate what has been a busy season for everyone involved in girls' and women's cricket in Scotland. Thank you to everyone who has volunteered and dedicated their time to making everything happen, 2014 has been really jammed pack with activity and 2015 could be even busier. It's great there is so much going on at all levels and with the winter programme due to start shortly there isn't a huge amounts of time to sit back, relax and reflect on what has happened this year!"
